Part-Time Army Direct Fire Subject Matter Expert (SME) Role at BGI: Enhancing the Synthetic Training Environment for the US Army
Army Direct Fire SME | Apply Now!
BGI is seeking experienced and highly skilled Army Direct Fire Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to join a dynamic team working on the Lockheed Martin Rotary Mission Systems (LM RMS) solution for the U.S. Army’s Synthetic Training Environment (STE) program. The position is a part-time role offering the chance to contribute to the development and evaluation of a critical MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System) replacement for live training systems (LTS). The project aims to improve direct-fire training capabilities, offering a unique opportunity to directly shape the future of military training technology.
As part of the STE-LTS program, the SME role will be instrumental in evaluating the effectiveness of the LM RMS’s proposed solution, helping to prepare it for Soldier Touch Point (STP) events leading up to a down-selection in Fall 2024. This job provides a collaborative environment for individuals with strong military experience to support system demonstrations, offer recommendations for product improvements, and work alongside US Army personnel to ensure optimal training performance.
There is significant potential for follow-on SME work once LM RMS’s solution is chosen for further production, with the opportunity for a full-time position as the scope of the project expands to include additional weapon systems and platforms.
The Role’s Impact on the Synthetic Training Environment:
The Synthetic Training Environment (STE) represents the future of military training, blending cutting-edge simulation technology with realistic, real-world scenarios. Your expertise as an SME will play a critical role in shaping how the U.S. Army trains its soldiers for direct-fire combat scenarios. By ensuring that the training systems are not only realistic but also effective, you will help soldiers develop the skills necessary to succeed in high-stakes environments.
Your feedback and evaluations will directly influence the development of the MILES replacement, contributing to the improvement of live training systems that enhance readiness, reduce training costs, and create more effective training experiences.
Growth Potential:
This position offers long-term growth opportunities. As the LM RMS solution is selected and moves into production and development, there is potential for continued involvement in the project, with the possibility of transitioning into a full-time role as the scope of the Synthetic Training Environment expands. This includes additional work on a range of direct-fire weapons and potentially other platforms and weapon systems on the battlefield.
For those with the desire to continue working on cutting-edge military training technologies, the Other Transaction Authority (OTA) will be a key factor in expanding the scope of the program.
